Message from the Dean

Dean Khurana

Dear Harvard College Parents and Guardians,

The start of the academic year has arrived, and I am very excited to see our campus and our community active with your students. I know that having a child in college is both rewarding and a bit nerve-wracking. As I said in my email to you earlier this month, you are an important part of our College community, and Harvard offers resources, like this monthly newsletter, to provide you with useful information to better connect you to what is going on in our community and your students’ lives. On behalf of all of us in the Dean’s office, I want to express gratitude for the faith that you have placed in your student and in this institution. We look forward to working in partnership with you throughout this academic year.

Warmly,
Rakesh Khurana
Danoff Dean of Harvard College

STUDENT EXPERIENCE

The Yard Awakens as Freshman Arrive

After nearly 13 weeks of summer rest, Harvard Yard awoke again as the Class of 2020 officially arrived on campus last week. Harvard President Drew Faust, Edgerley Family Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Michael D. Smith, Danoff Dean of Harvard College Rakesh Khurana, and Dean of Freshmen Thomas Dingman conducted their traditional walk around the Yard to greet the freshmen, along with their parents and the occasional sibling, as students carried boxes, pulled suitcases, and lugged small appliances into dorm rooms.
