Message from the Dean of Students

Dean Katie O'Dair

Dear Harvard College Parents and Guardians,

Warm Fall greetings! While the leaves are still turning golden red and yellow across the Yard, the weather feels a bit colder, and with that I am reminded that Winter Break is quickly approaching. The Break is a time for unwinding, contemplation, and reconnection with friends and loved-ones. Here at Harvard College, Winter Break is also an opportunity for students to return to campus early to participate in Wintersession which runs from January 13-22, 2017.

Wintersession is a fun, informal program that enables students to participate in student-initiated and College-led programming, including a wide selection of programs that broaden life skills, develop leadership capacities, and explore a wide range of arts, health, and service-related opportunities.

I encourage you to speak with your student about this, and to have them connect with their adviser, proctor, tutor, or dean about Winter Break and what is the best plan for them. You will find more information about Wintersession and Winter Break in this newsletter.

With kind regards,

Katherine O’Dair
Dean of Students
